Summer 2025 New Movie Releases
“Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning”
Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Hayley Atwell; directed by Christopher McQuarie

Picking up after the events of “Dead Reckoning,” “The Final Reckoning” posits a world where a sentient artificial intelligence called Entity has gone pervasively rogue and mad, having hacked into computer systems around the world. “Lilo & Stitch”
Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong, Chris Sanders; directed by Dean Fleischer Camp

Over two decades since the eponymous duo from “Lilo & Stitch” captured the hearts of movie fans, young and old alike, the BFFs are returning to the big screen for a revamp that does not, by and large, deviate from Disney’s 2002 original animated film. “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” (Release Date: May 23, 2025)

Laura Piani’s French romantic comedy film follows the story of Agathe (Camille Rutherford), a 20-something woman whose heart yearns for the embrace of love akin to a Jane Austen novel. Her ultimate dream is to become a successful writer. Instead, she is squandering her life as a bookseller in the throes of crippling complacency and sentimentality.
“Karate Kid: Legends” (Release Date: May 30, 2025)
Joshua Jackson, Jackie Chan, Ben Wang; directed by Jonathan Entwistle

Nearly 40 years since the theatrical release of “The Karate Kid,” the martial arts saga lives on with yet another enduring story of determination, discipline and hard work. The new chapter stars former castmates Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan as martial arts experts who take a promising new student under their wings in preparation for an upcoming tournament.
“The Phoenician Scheme” (Release Date: June 6, 2025)
Benicio Del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera; directed by Wes Anderson

At the heart of Wes Anderson’s caper is a father-daughter duo, a business mogul (Benico Del Torro) and his sole heir, a nun (Mia Threapleton), who both provoke the ire of unrelenting assassins and scheming tycoons as they embark on a new business venture. Expect Anderson’s flair for whimsies that captivate with vivid color palettes, elaborate set designs, and well-orchestrated zoom shots.
“Ballerina” (Release Date: June 6, 2025)
Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves; directed by Len Wiseman

The “John Wick” spinoff film, “Ballerina,” stars Ana de Armas as Eve Maccaro, a former ballet dancer-turned assassin trained in the traditions of the Ruska Roma criminal organization. Set between “Chapter 3 – Parabellum” and “Chapter 4, the new action thriller traces the eponymous dancer’s personal journey to exact revenge for her father’s death. Keanu Reeves makes a cameo appearance as John Wick, serving up a conduit between the two films.
“How To Train Your Dragon” (Release Date: June 13, 2025)
Mason Thames, Gerard Butler, Nico Parker; directed by Dean DeBlois

“How To Train Your Dragon,” A live-action remake of the 2010 original animated film, tells the story of a young Viking who befriends an elusive dragon, the last of its kind, against his clan’s wishes and longstanding traditions. Ultimately, his defiance will pave a way for all dragons and Vikings to co-exist in a harmonious relationship.
“Materialists” (Release Date: June 13, 2025)
Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, Pedro Pascal; directed by Celine Song

Celine Song’s romantic comedy follows the story of Lucy (Dakota Johnson), a New York-based matchmaker, who suddenly finds herself at a crossroads as she contemplates her very own love connection. Will it be the wealthy bachelor (Pedro Pascal), who seems perfect for Lucy, or her charming old flame (Chris Evans), who is less financially stable?
“28 Years Later” (Release Date: June 20, 2025)
Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O'Connell; directed by Danny Boyle

“28 Years Later” is the third film in the “28 Days Later” horror series, following 2002’s original “28 Days Later” and 2007’s “28 Weeks Later.” Picking up 28 years after the outbreak of the Rage virus, the latest installment posits a post-apocalyptic world where survivors and infected have managed to co-exist. But a looming threat is once again on the horizon!
“Elio” (Release Date: June 20, 2025)
Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly; directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi and Adrian Molina

Pixar’s latest animation relates the cosmic misadventures of an imaginative 11-year-old boy named Elio Solis (Yonas Kibreab), a space fanatic, who accidentally becomes the ambassador of planet Earth.
“F1: The Movie” (Release Date: June 27, 2025)
Brad Pitt, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem; directed by Joseph Kosinski

The fascinating world of Formula One car racing comes alive in Joseph Kosinski’s latest effort, “F1: The Movie,” in which Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver. At the urging of his former teammate (Javier Bardem), he comes out of retirement to mentor a very promising rookie (Damson Idris).
“M3GAN 2.0” (Release Date: June 27, 2025)
Allison Williams, Violet McGraw; directed by Gerard Johnstone

Two years after the events of the original movie, M3GAN’s AI technology is stolen and reprocessed by a defense contractor to create a highly sophisticated and powerful military robot called Amelia. It doesn’t take long before the new killbot goes on a murder rampage. But fear not! M3GAN comes roaring back with far supreme capabilities to take down Amelia.
“Jurassic World Rebirth” (Release Date: July 2, 2025)
Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey; directed by Gareth Edwards

Set five years after the events of “Jurassic World Dominion,” Gareth Edwards “Jurassic World Rebirth” follows a new team of experts as they brave the original Jurassic Park Island. Their mission? To extract DNA samples from the three largest remaining prehistoric creatures for pharmaceutical research. Before long, they will come face to face with a wrathful Tyrannosaurus rex with six limbs.
“Superman” (Release Date: July 11, 2025)
David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult; directed by James Gunn

A reboot of the “Superman” movie series, James Gunn’s new superhero movie explores Clark Kent’s journey to reconcile his intergalactic beginnings with his adoptive heritage. David Corenswet takes on the mantle of the eponymous superhero.
“I Know What You Did Last Summer” (Release Date: July 18, 2025)
Madelyn Cline, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr.; directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson

The fourth film in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” slasher franchise is a direct sequel to 1998’s “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.” The new horror film tells the story of a group of friends who are being terrorized by a mysterious stalker one year after they cover up their involvement in a fatal car accident. Original castmates Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprise their roles as Ray Bronson and Julie James from the first two films.
“Smurfs” (Release Date: July 18, 2025)
Rihanna, John Goodman, Kurt Russell; directed by Chris Miller

Chris Miller’s live-action/animated hybrid film — a reboot of “The Smurfs” film series — stars Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette, who lead the smurfs into the real world when Papa Smurf is kidnapped. The new movie will feature new original songs by the mega-popstar.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” (Release Date: July 25, 2025)
Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn; directed by Matt Shakman

The “Fantastic Four” superheroes, embodied by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, star as Marvel’s First Family. Their mission? To vanquish a planet-devouring cosmic entity, Galactus, and his herald, the Silver Surfer.
“Together” (Release Date: July 30, 2025)

“The Naked Gun” (Release Date: Aug. 1, 2025)
Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paul Walter Hauser; directed by Akiva Schaffer

Liam Neeson takes on the mantle of Frank Drebin, a police officer who is a member of the Police Squad. The premise of the upcoming fourth film in “The Naked Gun” franchise, directed by Akiva Schaffer, is still under wraps.
“Freakier Friday” (Release Date: Aug. 8, 2025)
Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Mark Harmon; directed by Nisha Ganatra

Nearly 22 years since the theatrical release of the original “Freaky Friday,” Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan reunite as a mother-daughter duo in Nisha Ganatra’s “Freakier Friday,” a sequel to the 2003 body-switch comedy. Could lightning strike twice?
“Caught Stealing” (Release Date: Aug. 29, 2025)
Austin Butler, Zoë Kravitz, Regina King; directed by Darren Aronofsky

Darren Aronofsky’s dark comedy centers on a burned-out former baseball player (Austin Butler) who gets propelled into the criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City. To survive, he must learn how to navigate the perilous underworld.
“The Roses” (Release Date: Aug. 29, 2025)
Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg; directed by Jay Roach

A remake of the 1989 “The War of the Roses,” Jay Roach’s “The Roses” star Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman as a married couple whose love begins to drift amid increasing marital woes and tensions. Can they survive their tumultuous relationship?
