Thousands in the Dark After Man Was Electrocuted on Power Pole
The man was on a power pole on the Western Avenue overpass of the Hollywood Freeway.

A man was critically injured when he touched a live wire on a power pole in Hollywood tonight, causing a power outage.
Officers saw a man in his 30s climbing the pole near the Western Avenue on-ramp to the Hollywood (101) Freeway around 7 p.m., then falling, said Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, Lopez said.

More than 2,700 customers were without power, according to the Department of Water and Power.
There was no evidence of foul play. It is suspected that the man was attempting suicide, Lopez said.

All power was restored by 10:20 p.m., according to the utility.
