โ€œReady or Notโ€ โ€” Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell; directed by Matt Bettinelli-Orpin and Tyler Gillett

The psychological thriller, โ€œReady or Not,โ€ follows the story of Grace (Samara Weaving), a vivacious young woman who has been wooed by the dashing Alex Le Domas (Mark Oโ€™Brien), one of the scions of the Le Domas gaming dynasty.

After the couple's 18-month courtship, Grace and Alex are about to take their wedding vows at the massive, opulent Le Domas estate, where we soon meet the hysterical patriarch, Tony Le Domas (Henry Czerny), his impatient wife, Becky (Andie MacDowell), their twisted son, Daniel (Adam Brody), their hyperactive daughter, Emilie (Melanie Scrofano) and their vengeful Aunt, Helene (Nicky Guadagni).

The wedding runs smoothly, but before the night is over, Grace will have to join Alex and her in-laws for a midnight gathering to play a long-standing family game. What kind of game exactly? The new Le Domas member must draw from a deck of cards to determine which game they'll all play.

As the story progresses, Grace unsuspectingly picks โ€œHide and Seek." Nice and easy game, right? Well, think again. Our heroine soon is galvanized into action when she unwittingly discovers it isn't just a game. Instead, it is a deadly blood sport where her in-laws hunt her down to deathโ€” for real!

Will Grace make it out alive before sunrise?

See it. Ready or not? You will find yourselves rooting for Weaving, who perfectly embodies a sweet yet fearless soul trying to fight for her life.

โ€œAngel Has Fallenโ€ โ€” Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman; directed by Ric Roman Waugh

In the third and final episode of the โ€œFallenโ€ series (following โ€œOlympusโ€ and โ€œLondonโ€), Gerard Butler reprises his iconic role of Secret Service agent Mike Banning, the stalwart public servant known for his unfettered dedication to serve and protect the president of the United States by any means necessary.

The new action film opens with President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman) and his security detail on a fishing trip, where, in the blink of an eye, they are attacked by a fleet of explosive drones, leaving the U.S. president comatose. Shockingly, Banning gets detained as the alleged mastermind behind the mysterious attack.

Our troubled hero soon becomes a fugitive on the run โ€” and on a warpath to clear his name and to keep his family from harm. Along the way, his survival skills will be put to the test as Banning tries to evade two unrelenting FBI agents (Jada Pinkett Smith and Joseph Millson) and an unforgiving group of mercenary assassins led by his old Army pal Wade Jennings (Danny Huston).

In a surprise twist and turn, Banning gets reunited with his estranged dad, Clay Banning (Nick Nolte), a hermit Vietnam vet who becomes his unlikely partner on the lam. With time running out, can Banning uncover the truth and the real threat?

See it. While the screenplay languishes in incongruity at times, the movie, overall, is still entertaining.

โ€œOvercomerโ€ โ€” Alex Kendrick, Aryn Wright-Thompson; directed by Alex Kendrick

Alex Kendrick writes, directs and stars in the faith-based sports drama โ€œOvercomer,โ€ which follows the story of a struggling high school basketball coach named John Harrison (Kendrick).

When the largest local manufacturing company shuts down, several families in the area are forced to move out, leaving Harrison with no basketball team to coach. In the process, the school principal (Priscilla C. Shirer) asks Harrison to coach the schoolโ€™s cross-country track team instead.

But sadly, the team has only one player who signed up. That person is Hannah (Aryn Wright-Thompson), a sophomore student who also happens to suffer from asthma.

In the end, through hard work, determination and the power of prayers, Hannah and Harrison will conquer a host of obstacles in their journey together.

See it. The movie is well-acted and heartwarming, though it's predictable.
