- City Attorney Michael Gates announced Friday that the City received “a Court Decision in our favor in the lawsuit Huntington Beach v. State of CA, Department of Finance.” What does this mean? “The Court found that the State of California certainly owes the City of Huntington Beach $5,200,000.00 (plus interest of nearly $1,000,000), and possibly owes the City of Huntington Beach another $22,400,000.00 (with interest).” (Michael Gates)
- The Bolsa Chica Wetlands will celebrate Earth Day next April 30 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is a free event with educational activity booths. Head on down to 3842 Warner Avenue for tours, interpretive center animal feeding, and a jump tent. (Bolsa Chica)
- The city wants you to consider serving on a board, commission, or committee. There are several vacancies that need to be filled and applications will be accepted as of Thursday. “Applicants must be U.S. citizens, and residents and electors of the City of Huntington Beach during the appointment process and term, and may not hold more than one membership at a time.” (City of HB ,HB Gov)
- On Friday, the HB Concert Band released the annual concert schedule. The summer series concerts will take place at the Thomas Ridley Huntington Center Park Concert Bandstand at 5 p.m. on Sundays. The kick-off is June 26, when the HB Concert Band will be joined by the Pacifica HS choirs. The final performance of the season will be on August 21. (Concert HB)
- Mark your calendars! The HB Art Center announces its newest event, “If The Shoe Fits.” Running from May 7 to June 11, it features “over 50 creative shoe-based artworks in both traditional and sculptural mediums.” They came to be when “Judith Hendler, noted fashion jewelry designer, challenged Community College students and members of the Huntington Beach Art Center to explore the theme of footwear utilizing core sustainability concepts including reduce, reuse, and repurpose.” (HB Art Center)
