Another class of trailblazers is inducted to Orange County Hall of Fame (ocregister.com) — Orange County’s latest Hall of Fame class includes several figures tied to Huntington Beach, from surf legend Robert August, who grew up riding local waves, to conservation advocate Ed Laird, honored for his work with the Bolsa Chica Conservancy. The ceremony in Santa Ana celebrated 10 trailblazers in sports, arts, civic leadership, business, and philanthropy with plaques now on display at county offices.

Local trio take wrestling titles in Cossarek Classic (latimes.com subscription) — Huntington Beach High’s wrestling squad grabbed fifth place at the Cossarek Classic, with senior 144-pounder Logan Pistilli reaching the finals and six Oilers making the podium. The study, focused on health, well‑being, finances, and community factors, highlights nearby Irvine as the third‑happiest city overall, underscoring Southern California’s strong showing for quality of life and safety.
   

4. Howard's Appliance lists $17.2M in liabilities in bankruptcy filing (ocregister.com) — Howard’s Appliance, which recently shut down its Huntington Beach store along with others, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, listing up to $17.2 million in liabilities. The longtime Southern California retailer is seeking court-supervised reorganization after sudden December closures left customers with unfilled orders and employees with little notice, while major appliance makers and advertisers line up as unsecured creditors.
