The $25 million lawsuit, filed in Orange County Superior Court, pits two prominent local officials against each other and could shape how sharp political criticism plays out in Huntington Beach.

2. Woman faces upgraded charges in Huntington Beach crash that took life of pastor (latimes.com subscription) — A bicyclist was killed and two others badly injured in an October crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, and prosecutors have now upgraded charges against the driver after toxicology tests showed multiple drugs in her system. The woman, who allegedly drove onto the shoulder, hit cyclists in the bike lane, and continued to a nearby beach lot, faces several felony counts as the victims’ families and local riders await further court proceedings.

3. ‘Living shoreline' solution being tried to protect eroding Talbert Marsh (ocregister.com) — Work is underway at Talbert Marsh and the adjoining Huntington Beach wetlands to test a “living shoreline” made of coconut fiber logs and native plants to slow erosion and protect habitat.
