  1. Mark your calendars, there are road closures ahead! We learned Friday that HB Public Works “plans to temporarily close Saybrook Lane from Heil to just south of Fisher for street repaving.” This will take place April 13 to 15. (@CityofHBPIO)
  2. Local mural artist Melissa Murphy finished her latest masterpiece. It features “happily splashing dolphins, sly-looking sharks, cavorting seals, a friendly turtle and students playing at the Huntington Beach Pier,” which she created for the St. Bonaventure school play structure. It “was created to show God’s love in the community” and inspired by “the stained-glass at St. Bonaventure Church.” The mural was blessed and dedicated a couple of weeks ago. (OC Catholic)
  3. OC Muslims are beginning their observance of the holy month of Ramadan. Participants “go on a 30-day fast, during which they’ll abstain from food, drink or water between sunrise and sunset.” The first day of fasting begins today. However, this is the first time since the pandemic that the faithful may return to in-person prayers at their mosque. (Voice of OC)
  4. You don’t need to be a frequent visitor to the NextDoor app to know that coyote sightings are getting more frequent in HB. The HBPD said Friday that it “received numerous reports of residents leaving food out to feed coyotes.” Officers want you to know that it “is not only dangerous, but also illegal.” The animals lose their natural fear of humans, which creates hazardous conditions. (HBPD)
  5. Turtle Trek at Los Cerritos Wetlands is back, y’all! It’s happening today and “not only will you observe sea turtles but also interesting wildlife like egrets and perhaps a great blue heron or two.” You go “on a wonderful walk along the levy of the San Gabriel River” that is guided by an environmental educator. So, wear close-toed shoes and be at the driveway/parking area at the corner of 1st Street and PCH in Seal Beach at 8 a.m. sharp! (Los Cerritos Wetlands Land Trust)
