Community Center's T-Ball Program Could Be Scrapped
At least 20 more kids need to join the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge's T-Ball program or else it could shut down, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.
The T-Ball program at the is in danger of shutting down this season.
The Community Center needs at least 20 more kids ages 4-6 to join this season, said spokeswoman Melissa Mills. The center is also looking for coaches, she said.
Unless it is forced to close, the 2012 Spring T-Ball season is set to begin April 17 and run for seven weeks (wether permitting), ending May 31. It's held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:45 p.m. The teams consist of 6-10 players each, depending on the nunber of kids signed up. Two or more coaches are assigned to each team. The cost is $170 for seven weeks.

The center is looking for more kids as well as coaches, Mills said.
In T-Ball, young athletes learn throwing, catching, running bases and hiting off the tee. The program has been part of the community center since the 1960s.

Mandatory coach training will be held April 9 and 13.
