Key St. Francis Football Dates This Summer

Summer football is just around the corner, and now is as good a time as ever to take a look at the Golden Knights' summer plans.

And when you check out their schedule it's hard not to get excited about all the tantalizing passing tournaments St. Francis will compete in during the coming months. There's the COC Passing Tournament at the end of June, the LA Valley College Passing Tournament on July 9 and the Clairmont Passing Tournament that runs July 15-16.

In addition to pitting the Golden Knights against some of the better programs in the area, the three tournaments will give senior wide out Travis Talianko a chance to gel with incoming quarterback Jared Leibowitz, a junior tranfer from Vermont whom the Pasadena Star-News' football expert, Aram Tolegian, holds in high regard.

Talianko caught 17 touchdowns for St. Francis last year when Brett Nelson was under center and the Golden Knights finished 6-5 and 3-2 in the Mission League.

These summer sessions will go a long way toward determining if he can develop a similar rapport with Leibowitz.

June 21: 7-on-7 vs. Muir, 5 p.m. (site TBD)

June 25: St. Francis Youth Football Coaches Clinic

June 27: COC Passing Tournament at College of the Canyons

June 29: COC Passing Tournament at College of the Canyons

July 6: 7-on-7 at La Canada, 4 p.m.

July 9: LA Valley College Passing Tournament,

July 12: 7-on-7 at Westlake, 5 p.m.

July 15-16: Clairmont Passing Tournament

Aug. 15: Fall camp begins

Aug. 18: First practice in pads
