Council Names Les Tupper Awardees
The recipients for the 2012 Les Tupper Community Service Awards include two high school students, residents and La Cañada associations.

Residents, high school students and two associations have earned the annual Les Tupper Community Service Awards, the La Cañada Flintridge Coordinating Council has announced.
The council, a nonprofit organization that serves as the coordinating body for the many local volunteer and service organizations, has chosen the following to receive the honor for 2012: Barbara Weber, Randy Strapazon, LCHS students Kathryn Battaglia and Alex Keledjian and the La Canada Baseball Softball Association and The Flintridge Riding Club.
Recipient Descriptions From the Coordinating Council
Barbara Weber will be recognized for her long term and distinguished record of
broad based community service to the The and its residents for nearly 40 years. She has willingly and efficiently taken leadership positions in the many community organizations including the , the PTA, Caltech Women’s Club, the La Canada Flintridge Educational Foundation and the Community Scholarship Board, among many others.

Randy Strapazon will be recognized for her outstanding leadership and her
long-term, broad based, selfless, and tireless volunteer efforts that have
enhanced the quality of life for the residents of La Canada Flintridge. Strapazon’s
volunteer work includes service to the La Canada schools, the , and the City of La Canada Flintridge.
Kathryn Battaglia, student, will be recognized for her
leadership and service with the Girl Scouts, local and state Parent Teacher
Associations, Youth in Government at the , and other community
organizations.
Alex Keledjian, LCHS student, will receive a Community Service Award
for his outstanding service to the City of La Canada Flintridge, Youth
Council, and his political interests and activities in the community.
The awards also will be presented to two organizations: The
La Canada Baseball Softball Association and . Both organizations are being recognized for their significant and enriching contributions benefiting the City of La Canada Flintridge and its residents.
The award ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. on May 14 at vonKarman Auditorium at The program will include a short presentation by Dr. Richard O'Toole on JPL's accomplishments in an extrememly busy 2011, followed by the awards presentation.

Additional certificates of recognition will be presented by other state representatives, the City of La Canada Flintridge, and the LCF Chamber of Commerce. Community members are invited to attend and help honor these outstanding recipients for their exemplary and distinguished service to our community.
