Update: Squirrel Caused Wednesday's Power Failure
Southern California Edison Spokesman Paul Klein said squirrels getting inside equipment, thereby causing failure, is not an uncommon occurrence.

Southern California Edison spokesman Paul Klein told the that a squirrel made his way into the equipment and caused a temporary failure.
In La Cañada and Montrose Wednesday 1,260 homes lost power from 11:26 a.m. to 11:37 a.m. The interruptions affected an area from Altura Avenue to the north, Cherry Canyon to the south, Commonwealth Avenue to the east and Ramsdell Avenue to the west.

Traffic lights along Foothill Boulevard went dark briefly Wednesday, but had all come back on by noon, according to the city's public works department.
Wednesday's brief outage follows a Monday outage stemming from a sparking transformer, where many residents on Alveo Road were left in the dark for hours.
