Laguna Beach Unified Honors 125th Annual Founders' Day Thursday
The annual Founders' Day is a day designed to honor the legacy and work of Parent Teacher Association founders.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Thursday marks the 125th anniversary of the National Parent Teacher Association, otherwise known as PTA. In honor of Founders' Day, the Laguna Beach Unified School District is commemorating PTA and its lasting legacy on public schools, a LBUSD news release said.
In Laguna Beach, the legacy and impact of PTA is well-known through events like Boo Blast, Bonanza, Winterfest, Sports Swap, Parent Education (formerly known as Coffee Talk) and the New Family Tea.
“PTA is woven into the fabric of our District. From supporting educational programs to building parent partnerships, we couldn’t do what we do without them,” LBUSD Superintendent Jason Viloria said. “Their tireless commitment to our school community never ceases to amaze me.”

LBUSD boasts a total of 1,209 PTA members, including parents, teachers, staff and students, district-wide.
Through this team of dedicated parent volunteers and leaders, the LBUSD school site PTAs provide classroom stipends or grants, encourage positive behavior incentives, provide teacher and staff appreciation, support social/emotional efforts at the high school and work with schools to organize 5th grade and 8th grade promotion ceremonies, the news release said.

"LBUSD is grateful to celebrate PTA’s Founders’ Day and continue the amazing partnership that has gone on throughout the years," the news release said. "PTA has shown their support to the district countless times each and every year, so LBUSD is honored to provide PTA the support for their anniversary and give thanks for their commitment and dedication to the students and each school in the district."
