Laguna Canyon Road Reopens After Near Day-Long Closure In Laguna Beach
Laguna Beach authorities worked to clear a mudslide caused by a broken water main that closed and flooded the road on Wednesday morning.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Canyon Road has reopened after city crews worked tirelessly through Wednesday to repair a water main break that resulted in a mudslide on the road, the City of Laguna Beach said in a statement.
The road was shut down in both directions for all of Wednesday morning and much of Wednesday afternoon, authorities said, making travel on the main thoroughfare throughout the day. The city announced its reopening via Nixle at 2:30 p.m.
According to the city, the closure was prompted by a water main break occurring between two water tanks in the Top of the World neighborhood and West Ridge Trail. The water main break caused mud and debris to slide down a natural ravine and onto Laguna Canyon Road, authorities said.
