Marilyn Wellness Studio's Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony And Party
Certified hypnotherapist Marilyn Montero is open for business and a new member of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA—Marilyn Wellness Studio celebrated its ribbon cutting in Laguna Beach, opening the doors to mental health and fitness for all. In advance of the ceremonial cutting of the thick red ribbon with the gigantic scissors, business owner Marilyn Montero received certificates of recognition from the California Assembly, the County Board of Supervisors and the U.S. Congress.
Representatives from each elected official's office presented the framed documents and wished Montero all the best in her new business.

Montero was welcomed to the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce by its CEO Sandy Morales on Tuesday. The certified clinical hypnotherapist took full advantage of the ceremony by hosting a fun reception immediately following the ribbon-cutting. Guests, friends, clients and family all learned more about her hypnotherapy practice while enjoying a champagne toast, Mediterranean buffet and a raffle among glittering helium balloons.

The Marilyn Wellness Studio is located at 1956 S. Coast Highway in the rear building, above Cho's Academy. Just follow the driveway up to the renovated space Montero first acquired in March 0f 2020. She spent the lockdown assisting clients over Zoom while transforming the studio into a welcoming, calm, yet glamorous space.

Before she bestowed the raffle prizes, Montero presided over a Q&A session. In a true Socratic method, she asked the questions. Through the responses, she defined what she does: help people make changes in their lives, whether it's quitting smoking, reducing anxiety or changing a diet.

One of her clients claimed she quit smoking after only one session. Another guest said through hypnosis, she went from being an amateur golfer to a professional.
Does anyone know someone who is stuck in their life, maybe stuck for 10 years? Montero asked.
Many nodded, that yes, they did.
Why live like that when there are solutions to try? she asked.
Hypnotherapy works with one's subconscious mind, which Montero says is 88 percent of our brains. The other 12 percent is the conscious mind. She posits that those who are stuck may have something operating in their subconscious that prevents them from achieving what they want in life. She helps people find out why they "retract" from what they truly seek.
First and foremost, she says, she makes new clients comfortable. She spends more than an hour discovering their goals in an intake session. Comfy, blue velvet couches are set up living-room-style for this part of the journey.
Next, Montero explains, she relaxes clients until they are neither asleep nor awake, such as right before you fall asleep or right after you wake up. That's when transformative suggestions are made. "It's a portal to the subconscious," Montero says.
For the hypnosis sessions, clients get to sit in an astronaut-worthy recliner.

Montero received her clinical certification at HMI, the Hypnosis Motivation Institute, graduating at the top of her class. She works with individuals, couples, teens and families.

She is confident in her mission, exudes warmth, and made a fun party of her official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new member of the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce was all smiles.
