LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach Planning Commissioners approved remodel plans for Mozambique last Tuesday, allowing the restaurant to add an ADA accessible bathroom on the rooftop level and relocate the bar so patrons can have ocean views.

Commissioners voted 4-0 — with Commissioner Steve Kellenberg absent from the meeting — in favor of a conditional use permit and design review for interior and exterior changes to the restaurant, located at 1710 and 1740 South Coast Highway and 245 Agate Street.

According to the staff report, modifications will include a new window system on the existing second floor patio and installation of sound attenuation measures, an interior remodel to relocate the restaurant's bar as well as change the building's floor plan and seating layout, addition of an accessible restroom on the roof deck and emergency exiting deck pathway and door improvements.
