Smoke Shop Busted In Laguna Beach For Cannabis, Magic Mushrooms

The smoke shop, located at 640 S. Coast Highway, was allegedly illegally selling psilocybin mushrooms and cannabis in Laguna beach.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A Laguna Beach smoke shop was searched and several suspects were detained for the illegal sale of cannabis and magic mushrooms, authorities said Tuesday.

On Monday, Jan. 27, Special Enforcement Team members and Laguna Beach Police Detectives executed a search warrant at the Cinder Box Smoke Shop, located at 640 S. Coast Highway.

The search warrant follows a citizen complaint made in early 2025, which alleged that the smoke shop illegally sold both psilocybin mushrooms and cannabis.

During the search operation, officers detained and identified suspects and recovered roughly 3.8 pounds of cannabis products — including loose marijuana buds, THC concentrate and edibles. In addition, LBPD seized about half a pound of psilocybin mushroom products, including chocolate bars and candy.

It was not immediately known how many suspects were arrested.
