2024 Election Results In Dana Point: Congressional District, Schools

DANA POINT, CA — The polls have closed in Dana Point, and soon residents will know who will represent them on their school board, congressional district and more.

In Dana Point and Laguna Niguel, voters determined who they want to represent them on the Capistrano Unified School District Governing Board.

In Trustee Area 1, Jennifer Adnams led the race with 54.37 percent of the vote as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Incumbent Amy Hanacek followed with 45.63 percent of the vote.

In Trustee Area 2, Lisa Zollinger led the race with 57.22 percent of the vote as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Incumbent Michael Parham had 42.78 percent of the vote.

In Trustee Area 3, Incumbent Lisa Davis led the race with 59.93 percent of the vote as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Sherine Smith followed with 40.07 percent of the vote.

Lastly, in Trustee Area 5, Incumbent KRista Castellanos led the race with 56.26 percent of the vote as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Sonia Terwiske trailed with 43.74 percent of the vote.

In addition, voters decided who they wanted to represent them in Assembly District 74. The district, which encompasses Dana Point, Laguna Niguel and San Juan Capistrano, is currently represented by Republican Laurie Davies.

This election season, voters will choose between Davies and Democrat Chris Duncan.

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday and with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Davies led the race with 58.30 percent of the vote. Duncan followed with 41.70 percent of the vote.

While two Dana Point City Council seats are currently up for re-election, both candidates — Mike Frost and Michael Villar — currently run unopposed.

Voters also decided who they want to represent them in California's 49th Congressional District. The district, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel and San Clemente, is currently represented by Democrat Mike Levin.

This election season, Levin faced off against Republican Matt Gunderson.

As of 9 a.m. Wednesday and with 100 percent of precincts reporting, Gunderson maintained a growing lead with 56.67 percent of the vote. Levin trailed with 43.33 percent of the vote.
