Applications Open For Dana Point's Utility Box Artwork Program
Artists are being sought by the city to help beautify 14 utility boxes throughout Dana Point.

DANA POINT, CA — Dana Point officials and the Arts and Culture Commission are hoping to bring a little art to residents' lives by beautifying 14 utility boxes throughout the city.
Applications are open now until May 20 for local artists to help decorate the boxes with their artwork. Applicants should create art or photography "suitable for viewing by all ages," the city said.
This is the third phase of Dana Point's Utility Box Public Art Program. Artwork by local and student artists adorned utility boxes in the first two phases of the program, Dana Point officials said.

The proposed box art should be viewable from a distance, and Dana Point officials said bold colors and designs are encouraged.
"The proposed utility box public art designs must be applicable and usable, covering all four sides and the top of the box," Dana Point officials said. "The art should enliven the area, transform the street and reflect the neighborhood or area where the utility box is located."
