Dana Point City Manager Announces Retirement After 18 Years
City Manager Mike Killebrew leaves behind a legacy of exceptional service, city officials said.

DANA POINT, CA — A longtime fixture at Dana Point City Hall is retiring after almost two decades of service, after City Manager Mike Killebrew announced his retirement, effective Dec. 30.
Killebrew leaves behind a legacy of exceptional service after serving the city in multiple leadership roles.
"Mike's leadership has been instrumental in shaping the city we know today," Mayor Matthew Pagano told Patch. "He has guided Dana Point with dedication, vision and a genuine love for this community."

A 26-year resident of Dana POint, Killebrew was the first local resident to serve as City Manager. In addition to his professional service, he has been a visible and active community later.
In 2019, he was honored as Dana Point Citizen of the Year. He has held leadership roles in numerous local nonprofit and civic organizations, including serving as Past President of Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, where he was twice named Rotarian of the Year.

"Mike's legacy of service will benefit our residents for years to come, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions," Pagano said.
Killebrew's retirement marks the conclusion of a career defined by fiscal responsibility, collaboration and community engagement, Pagano said.
