Hatch Chile Season Nears At Dana Point Gelson's: Place Your Orders

The seasonal spicy sweet peppers, the pride of New Mexico, are sold roasted and ready-to-eat, plus make tasty adds to a myriad of recipes.

DANA POINT, CA — Orders for the seasonal Hatch chile peppers — the mildly hot and savory peppers from New Mexico that pop with flavor when roasted — begin soon at Gelson's Markets in Orange County, including in Dana Point.

A coveted, favorite of the supermarket's customers, Hatch chiles can be ordered now online by the case for pick-up or delivery beginning Saturday, Aug. 6.

Some stores will offer a variation of heat levels depending on this year's crop. Plus live roastings are back at stores in Dana Point on Aug. 27 and in Long Beach Sept. 3.

Pick-up and delivery schedules are:

  • Aug. 6-7 - Order by Aug. 3 at 4 p.m.
  • Aug. 13-14 - Order by Aug. 10 at 4 p.m.
  • Aug. 20-21 - Order by Aug. 17 at 4 p.m.
  • Aug. 27-28 - Order by Aug. 24 at 4 p.m.
  • Sept. 3-4 - Order by Aug. 31 at 4 p.m.
