Kayaking in Laguna Beach

I went kayaking at Laguna at my friends' instance and had a fun experience

2020 is finally coming to a close. It’s truly been an awful year. Millions have lost their loved ones and livelihood. The past 7-8 months have been both emotionally and financially challenging.

Fortunately, learning to get discounts on online shopping has helped me stay afloat during this difficult period. But that’s all I have done in 2020; stay afloat.

It was two weeks back when my friends called about going on a kayaking trip to Laguna Point. I must admit, I wasn’t too excited about the whole thing. Even though my last adventure at this point was extremely fun, I thought this one would put some unneeded constraint on my budget.

But peer pressure is a powerful thing. Even though I never wanted, I found myself again in the sea this Sunday.

It wasn’t a bad day at all. The beach looked as glorious as always. We arrived early which meant the place wasn’t too crowded. Taking that all too familiar walk towards the beach was therapeutic.

It was just me and my buddies kayaking around the water. In all my years visiting this beach, I have never found this place so empty. Usually, there are easily 200 to 300 paddling here at this time of the day. Still, there were enough of us here to make a crowd.

These are some of my closest friends. People who have stuck with me in all adversities. I like to think of this picture as symbolic. A group of buddies huddled together in a vast ocean, taking strength and power from one another.

Later in the day, an unusual friend joined us in our kayaking adventure. This is what they call a ‘False Killer Whale’. It was huge and gorgeous. This guy looked a bit threatening but I am guessing he didn’t mind us paddling around. I would like to submit this to ‘click of the day’.

All this wouldn’t have been possible without La Vida Laguna. They offer fantastic kayaking activities in Orange County. Here’s a buddy of mine feeling a bit adventurous.

Of course, no visit to Laguna Beach is complete without getting acquainted with the native sea lions. These guys mostly chill out on the rocks and watch the rest of us do some kayaking. It’s always amazing to put on a show for my favorite audience.

Here’s the final snap of the day. Although I didn’t feel like taking this trip till the last minute, I am glad to have tagged along. Life gets dull at times. It gets especially dull if you have been cooped up at your home for a number of weeks.

Here’s to my buddies who are always there to get my spirits up. What would I do without you crazy bunch?
