Knife-Wielding Woman Shot By OC Deputies In Dana Point

DANA POINT, CA — A knife-wielding woman who was shot by Orange County sheriff's deputies in Dana Point early Friday morning was left fighting for her life in a hospital.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a caller to sheriff's dispatchers reported that a woman was screaming near Corniche Drive and Camino del Avion.

When deputies responded at 4:10 a.m. Friday to the condo, they found the woman, who was holding a knife, authorities said. She was shot by one of the deputies and taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Her condition was not immediately known.

Deputies had been called to the condo multiple times over the past few months for similar disturbances, according to the department.
