DANA POINT, CA — Fans of Waterman's Harbor have one last chance this week to get a plate of fish tacos as the restaurant announced Monday it's closing its doors at the end of the month.

The restaurant will close its doors on June 1, according to an announcement made by managing partner Damian Collins. He said the revitalization project underway at the Dana Point Harbor would impact the restaurant's ability to stay open and the quality of service.

"We felt the best solution was to accept the offer from the Marina developers to terminate our lease," Collins said.

Construction on the harbor began earlier this year, and the $320 million project is meant to revitalize the area's commercial core, marinas and docks, the Orange County Register reported.

Waterman's closure is the second Dana Point Harbor eatery that announced its closure. The owners of Harbor Grill said they will close in September after nearly 40 years in business.

Although Waterman's is closing, Collins said "we will not be leaving the Dana Point community."

The restaurant group behind Waterman's plans to open restaurants where they own the buildings, including a "Mexican restaurant concept."

The group's other restaurants still open in Dana Point are Sunsets Capo Beach and StillWater Spirits and Sounds.

"We have enjoyed getting to know you, sharing in your lives, celebrations, special events and milestones," Collins said. "Over the years, you have become like family."
