What's Closed On Memorial Day In Laguna Niguel and Dana Point

Many employers, government offices and services will close to observe the Monday holiday in the Laguna Niguel area and across California.

LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — On Memorial Day, the bustle of daily business will slow down a bit in California as swaths of government offices, banks and businesses close to observe the holiday.

The holiday, which honors men and women of the military who died in service, was recognized as a holiday in 1971.

On federal holidays, most banks close, and transactions come to a halt. Across the state, Wells Fargo, Chase, Capital One, Bank of America, U.S. Bank and California Bank & Trust will close.

All government offices and schools will also close, courts will not be in session, and the Department of Motor Vehicles will shut down.

Public transportation will also be affected by the holiday. The Orange County Transportation Authority will run on its Sunday/holiday schedule.

The U.S. Postal Service will not deliver on Memorial Day. UPS will be closed Monday and won't have any delivery service scheduled. FedEx services will also likely be closed.

Many restaurants, retail stores and grocery stores will likely remain open to accommodate Californians who have the day off. Movie theaters will be open as well.

The holiday will impact trash and recycling service for residents in Laguna Niguel and Dana Point who have Monday as their service day. Pickups will resume the following day.
