1 Dies In Fiery Temescal Canyon Crash

Good Samaritans sprayed the burning silver sedan with a hose while waiting for emergency officials to arrive.

CORONA, CA — A person died when a vehicle crashed into a tree in El Cerrito, near Corona, and the vehicle burst into flames, authorities said Monday.

The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 11:16 p.m. Sunday by a witness who said a silver vehicle was on fire at El Cerrito and Temescal Canyon roads and that good Samaritans were spraying it with a hose.

A witness told the CHP a patient was unconscious and not breathing and that firefighters were trying to get the person out of the vehicle.

The patient was pronounced dead at the scene, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department reported.

Roadways approaching the intersection were shut down for the crash investigation, the CHP said.
