Two cities were named top locations for those looking to escape the cold winter months.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA -- Two Riverside County cities were named top locations for those looking to escape the cold winter months. The list, titled "20 Best Places for Snowbirds this Winter," which was compiled by Expedia, included Riverside and Palm Springs.

The travel website describes a snowbird as someone "who migrates to a warmer destination to avoid the wrath of winter. If you dread scraping the ice off your car windshield, fall on black ice left and right, and swear you must be cold-blooded, you just may be a snowbird at heart."

Describing Palm Springs, Expedia said " it's always the right time to order a cocktail and lounge on a chaise poolside in Palm Springs."

"The winter months are arguably the best time to visit as the desert heat eases up, leaving ideal temperatures perfect for all the best things to do in Palm Springs, like a stroll through the Palm Springs VillageFest and a hike on Andreas Canyon Trail," the website writes.

Whereas Riverside was highlighted for its fruity, winter harvest, UC Riverside Botanic Gardens and the Dickens Festival.
