2 Women Claim They Were Nearly Raped By RivCo Stranger, Arrest Made

The suspect was "unknown" to the women, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

LAKE MATHEWS, CA — A man suspected of trying to sexually assault two women in Riverside County was behind bars Wednesday, and formal charges are expected to be filed.

Alex Jason Armenta, 45, of Jurupa Valley was arrested Sunday and booked on suspicion of two counts of attempted rape, according to jail records. He is being held at Riverside's Robert Presley Detention Center in lieu of $250,000 bail.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, Armenta was taken into custody after deputies responded to the 3700 block of Harvill Lane in the unincorporated area of Corona known as Home Gardens. Callers reported that two women were asking for help.

"Upon arrival, deputies contacted two females and learned an unknown male had sexually assaulted them," the sheriff's department reported.

Riverside County court records show Armenta was convicted in 2021 of misdemeanor child endangerment and misdemeanor trespassing. He has no felony convictions in the county.
