21-Year-Old Man Killed In Riverside County New Year's Weekend Crash

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — Authorities Monday identified the victim of a fatal single-vehicle crash in Jurupa Valley.

Brandon Oton, 21, was fatally injured at 11:05 p.m. Saturday in the area of Riverview Drive and 42nd Street.

The victim's vehicle had crashed into a tree and a power pole, which prompted the assistance of Southern California Edison to asses for damage to the power pole at the scene, officials said.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, deputies found the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle dead, and the Jurupa Valley Sheriff's Station Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team assumed the investigation.

It was not immediately known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
