3rd Annual Taco Fest Hitting Historic Downtown Lake Elsinore

The family-friendly event is expected to draw about 5,000 attendees to Main Street, with roads blocked to motor vehicle traffic.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — In an attempt to expand Taco Fest in Lake Elsinore, the event is moving back to its inaugural location in historic downtown this year with streets blocked to motor vehicle traffic so visitors can relax amid the city's quaintest neighborhood.

Scheduled from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on August 19, the third annual family-friendly fest will take place along Main Street, with a diverse selection of tacos from various vendors, as well as merchandise stalls and a car show.

Last year, the event was held in the Launch Pointe parking lot, but increased interest prompted a move back to downtown where the event was first held, according to city documents.

About 5,000 people are expected to attend this year's fest. To make it safer for attendees, Main Street and some side streets will be blocked to prevent any motor vehicle traffic (see map below). The 1-11 p.m. August 19 street closures will be enforced by sheriff's deputies, according to approval Tuesday during the Lake Elsinore City Council meeting.

Historic downtown offers an atmosphere not found anywhere else in Southwest Riverside County. Lake Elsinore was incorporated in 1888 and several buildings along Main Street and nearby are over 100 years old.
