5-Acre Brush Fire Stopped East Of Menifee

At 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, the blaze was declared fully contained.

HOMELAND, CA — A brush fire that erupted Wednesday on a hillside in Homeland burned roughly five acres before it was contained.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 4 p.m. between Briggs and Sultanas roads, just north of Highway 74, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Responding crews encountered flames in medium vegetation, moving across open space, not immediately threatening homes or other structures, according to the department.

A Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter from nearby Hemet-Ryan Airport made runs on the brusher, aiding firefighters in encircling it.

At 4:50 p.m., the blaze was declared fully contained.
