The closures will allow construction crews to safely lift a large support structure in the 91 median, place it in a pre-drilled hole, and pour concrete to form the foundation for one of the support columns for the new interchange, according to RCTC.
"Heavy traffic delays are expected approaching Corona in the early morning hours," the agency reported. "Additional delays are expected throughout the weekend due to the 91 Express Lanes closures in Riverside County. Drivers are strongly urged to avoid the area by using Routes 57 and 71 to access Route 60, to allow extra time, and to consider using Metrolink as a regional travel alternative."
