SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — A 23-year-old man accused of shooting two men during a confrontation in Woodcrest was booked into jail Wednesday after being extradited from Mexico, where he was apprehended following a roughly three-month manhunt.

Bryan Corona of Moreno Valley was captured Tuesday in the Guadalajara area, though its not clear how investigators tracked him down. He was turned over to federal agents for extradition, culminating in his being booked into the Robert Presley Jail in downtown Riverside during the predawn hours Wednesday.

He's being held in lieu of $2 million bail.

Corona is charged with two counts of attempted murder with sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations. His arraignment is expected to be scheduled before the end of the week at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

The defendant perpetrated an attack on May 20 in the 17900 block of Van Buren Boulevard, according to Lt. Steve Favero of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Favero said detectives identified Corona as the alleged assailant following a week-long investigation, resulting in the execution of search warrants at properties on Cottonwood Avenue, Ellsworth Street, Nanwood Drive and Rolanda Drive — all in Moreno Valley.

Corona was not located at any of the locations, but "numerous items of evidence were recovered," the lieutenant said.

Details regarding the shooting were slim. According to Favero, patrol deputies were sent to the Van Buren Boulevard location shortly before 1 a.m. on May 20 to investigate reports of two men down and found the victims, whose identities were not disclosed, suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

The men were hospitalized and have since recovered.

A possible motive for the attack was not provided, but the sheriff's department identified Corona as the "armed and dangerous" suspect.

Corona has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
