Armed Domestic Violence Suspect Barricades Inside RivCo Home: RSO

TEMESCAL VALLEY, CA — An armed man suspected of domestic violence, who barricaded himself inside a Temescal Valley home, was arrested without incident and booked into county jail on suspicion of multiple felonies, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced Wednesday.

Deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff's Station were called to the residence around 4:24 p.m. Tuesday in the 11000 block of Starlily Court. A victim told deputies that she had been assaulted by 49-year-old Alfredo Espinoza, who was inside the home they shared and possibly armed, the sheriff's department reported.

The victim told deputies Espinoza threatened to shoot law enforcement officials, according to the department.

"Espinoza refused to surrender to deputies and barricaded himself inside of his residence," the department reported.

The Riverside Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau was requested to assist. After multiple negotiation efforts, Espinoza exited his residence and surrendered without incident, the agency said.

The department reported that a nonserialized "ghost gun" was found after a search warrant was served at the home.

Espinoza was taken into custody and booked into Riverside's Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of domestic violence, possession of a nonserialized firearm, criminal threats, and threats of violence to law enforcement, according to the sheriff's department. Jail records for Espinoza were unavailable Wednesday afternoon.

The victim was treated at the scene for her injuries, the sheriff's department said.
