Brush Fire Quickly Doused In Lakeland Village

LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA — A brush fire that erupted Thursday on the eastern perimeter of the Cleveland National Forest in Lakeland Village scorched roughly an acre before crews stopped it.

The non-injury blaze was reported at 4:10 p.m. in the area of Hayes Avenue and Churchill Street, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple county engine crews, as well as a strike team from the U.S. Forest Service, were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a slow rate upslope along a ridge.

Shortly before 5 p.m., the fire's forward rate of spread was stopped, and minutes later, the brusher was fully contained, according to officials at the scene.

No homes or other structures were threatened.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
