Bundy Canyon, Clinton Keith Roads Getting $23M For Widening, Upgrades

During its June 14 meeting, the RCTC OK'd the funds for the widening of Clinton Keith Road and improving Bundy Canyon Road in Wildomar.

WILDOMAR, CA — Last week, the Riverside County Transportation Commission unanimously approved over $23 million to pay for two massive road improvement projects in Wildomar.

During its June 14 meeting, the RCTC OK'd funds for the widening of Clinton Keith Road and improving Bundy Canyon Road in Wildomar.

The Clinton Keith Road project will widen the main artery to six lanes from Interstate 15 to Wildomar Trail, and widen to four lanes from Wildomar Trail to Copper Craft Road. Class II bike lanes will also be constructed in both directions throughout the project area. For the project, RCTC awarded $2,254,919 in Measure A funding (the voter-approved half-cent sales tax that provides funds for passenger rail, public transit, local streets and roads, and major highway projects).

Wildomar will also see more than $21 million in Measure A funds for Bundy Canyon Road improvements, which include widening the existing corridor to four lanes, redesigning and realigning curves to current standards, constructing new and improving existing traffic signals, and providing an "Active Transportation Corridor" for bicyclists, pedestrians, and small electric vehicles.

Both Wildomar projects are part of $135 in funding approved by the RCTC on June 14 to tackle more than a dozen regional transportation projects. Approximately $85 million of the total is coming from Measure A; the Transportation Uniform Mitigation Fee (TUMF) charged to developers in Riverside County will provide the remaining $50 million.

"Regional arterial roads are the backbone of our communities and their economies," said Commission Chair and Lake Elsinore City Councilmember Robert "Bob" Magee. "RCTC continues to deliver on promises made to Riverside County voters to improve mobility for our residents and businesses. Many communities will see tangible results from the funds approved by the Commission."
