Recruit's Death At RivCo Sheriff's Training Center Deemed Suicide

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A recruit died by suicide at the Ben Clark Training Center, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said Friday.

Sheriff's officials received a call at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, notifying them of the death, the department said.

"The incident was not in public, and occurred in a private setting. The incident was deemed a suicide," a sheriff's spokesman said.

The identity of the recruit was not released, nor were the details surrounding the death.

The training center located just outside of Riverside at 16791 Davis Ave. offers training for law enforcement personnel and for members of the public wanting to join the county's citizen patrol groups.
