Female Shot By RivCo Sheriff's Deputy After Brandishing Gun: Authorities

She was taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said, adding the involved deputies will be placed on paid administrative leave.

WILDOMAR, CA — A female was shot by at least one sheriff’s deputy overnight in Wildomar after she pointed a gun at law enforcement, authorities said.

Deputies responded Saturday shortly before midnight to the 32000 block of Lakeview Terrace regarding a female brandishing a gun, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, which reported that the deputies approached a residence and the female exited while armed.

She refused to follow the deputies’ commands, pointed the weapon at them, and was shot and taken to a hospital in critical condition, police said.

The involved deputies will be placed on paid administrative leave per agency policy and investigators from the district attorney’s office assigned to the Riverside Sheriff’s Force Investigations Detail will lead the investigation, according to police.
