Horsethief Canyon House Fire Kills Pet Dog

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A house fire over the weekend in Horsethief Canyon killed a pet dog, but no human injuries were reported.

The blaze was reported at 6:57 p.m. Sunday in the 27000 block of Pacos Ridge.

When Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews arrived at the scene, they found a single-story, single-family residence "with a well-established attic fire," according to the agency.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the one home.

"Unfortunately, one dog perished at the scene and animal control was requested," the fire department said.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, according to the fire department.
