Lake Elsinore Man Sought In Attempted Wildomar Carjacking: RSO

WILDOMAR, CA — A 33-year-old Lake Elsinore man is sought in connection with a weekend attempted carjacking in Wildomar, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department has announced.

David Salcida is suspected in the alleged attempt that took place at around 9 p.m. Saturday in the 23000 block of Catt Road.

Salcida allegedly got into an occupied vehicle, assaulted the driver, got behind the wheel, and tried to drive away.

A witness, who heard the victim yelling for help, went to the person's aid and was also assaulted by Salcida, according to the sheriff's department.

Salcida fled prior to deputies arriving.

"Salcida is still outstanding, and deputies are still actively searching for him," the sheriff's department announced.

The victim and witness, both Wildomar residents, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and denied medical treatment, the department reported.

It's not clear how Salcida was identified as the suspect.
