Man Found Dead On I-15 In Elsinore Was Stabbed, CHP Says

Meanwhile, both the victim and the suspect in the case have been publicly identified.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A woman accused of stabbing and killing a man whose body was found inside a truck alongside Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore over the weekend is now jailed. Vanessa Michelle Ruvalcaba, 23, was booked into the French Valley jail on suspicion of murder following the discovery on Saturday, jail records show.

It all started just after 7 a.m. Saturday when the California Highway Patrol began to receive calls that a woman was "running away from a bobtail type truck, which was parked on the right shoulder of I-15 southbound, just south of Main Street in the City of Lake Elsinore," according to CHP Officer Mike Lassig. Some callers also said they spotted blood on the woman, he said.

The CHP, CalFire and the sheriff's department all responded to the scene and Ruvalcaba was detained.

"After an examination of the bobtail truck, an adult male was located severely injured while sitting in the driver's seat of the truck," Lassig said in a news release. "The male adult was pronounced deceased from wounds consistent from a stabbing."

Law enforcement personnel were at the scene for nearly nine hours on Saturday while they investigated.
