Metrolink Train Heading To Perris Hits Person On Tracks

Delays were in place due to the closure of tracks.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A Metrolink train heading south to Perris struck a person Monday morning near downtown Riverside, and passenger delays were reported.

"91/PV and IEOC Line Alert: Tracks are closed between Riverside-La Sierra and Riverside-Downtown due to an incident involving train 702. Delays are unknown, updates to follow," according to a tweet shortly before 9:30 a.m. from the official Twitter account for Metrolink91/PV in Southern California.

The person was on the tracks, Metrolink reported.

In addition to train 702, IEOC Line 800 to Riverside-Downtown was holding at Riverside-La Sierra due to the tracks closure and police activity, according to the agency.

An update on the victim was unavailable. There was no word on how long train delays would be in place.
