Multi-Injury Crash On 91 Freeway In Corona Prompts SigAlert
Lane closures were expected to be gradually lifted Tuesday afternoon.

CORONA, CA — A three-vehicle wreck Tuesday on the Riverside (91) Freeway in Corona left five people injured, three seriously, and prompted the closure of multiple lanes, snarling traffic.
The collision happened at about 11:50 a.m. on the westbound 91, near Serfas Club Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the vehicles impacted in the fast lane, with one car severely damaged.

There was no immediate word on what triggered the wreck.
Corona Fire Department crews reached the location within 10 minutes and discovered three people trapped in the one heavily damaged car. As firefighters deployed industrial gear to free the occupants, CHP officers shut down both fast-track lanes, as well as three mainline lanes, leaving only two westbound lanes available for passage.

A Sigalert was issued due to the ensuing traffic jam.
At about 12:15 p.m., the three victims were extricated from the wreckage. All suffered major injuries, according to reports from the scene.
The motorists in the other two vehicles suffered moderate injuries, officials said.
As of 12:25 p.m., paramedics were performing triage on the patients, who were slated for transportation to hospitals in Riverside.
CHP officers were investigating the wreck.
