New Record Set After Blimp Pulls Skier Down Lake Elsinore

A new Guinness World Record was made this week for water skiing behind a blimp.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA -- Lake Elsinore this week became home to a new Guinness World Record: water skiing behind a blimp. The previous world record was about five miles, but water skier Keri McCollum set a new record when she went nearly 7 miles on the lake while being pulled by a giant T-Mobile blimp, the Press-Enterprise reported.

The local lake was closed for two days this week so McCollum could break the record, city officials said.

The event, sponsored by T-Mobile, is the company's way of promoting a new Samsung phone, officials said.
