Outbuildings, Vehicles Damaged In Riverside County 'Fox Fire'

MEAD VALLEY, CA — A grass fire that erupted Tuesday in Mead Valley burned about three acres and damaged several outbuildings and vehicles before crews established tentative containment lines.

The blaze, dubbed the Fox Fire, was reported shortly after 3 p.m. in the area of Fox Street and Ellis Road, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving across a property at a moderate rate.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were unable to prevent the flames from reaching at least two outbuildings and several vehicles, but as of 3:50 p.m. containment lines were established on several sides of the fire, which was surrounded by roads, according to reports from the scene.

A Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter was making runs on the blaze.

No evacuations were ordered, and no road closures were in effect.

There was no immediate word on what might have sparked the fire.
