Person With Self-Inflicted Stab Wounds Shot By Riverside County Deputy
According to the sheriff's department, deputies were called to check on "a male subject who appeared to be bleeding and disoriented."

JURUPA VALLEY, CA — A person who allegedly stabbed himself in front of deputies and then "charged" toward one of the law enforcement officers was shot, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported over the weekend.
The male, whose age was not provided, was shot around 11:12 a.m. Saturday near 53rd Street and Cedar Street in Jurupa Valley. The area is dotted with homes.
According to the sheriff's department, deputies were called to the area to check on "a male subject who appeared to be bleeding and disoriented."

Deputies attempted to provide medical aid but the person "produced a knife and began to stab himself. The male charged toward the deputy with the knife, and a deputy-involved shooting occurred," the agency reported.
One of the deputies fired at the person and struck him. It's not clear how many rounds hit the person.

"The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition," according to the sheriff's department.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
The unnamed deputy involved in the shooting was being placed on paid administrative leave according to department policy, the sheriff's department said.
