Struck, Killed By Semi After Running Across 91 Freeway: Hemet Man ID'd

RIVERSIDE, CA — A man who was struck and killed by a semi Monday afternoon as he ran across state Route 91 in Riverside was identified by the coroner as a 29-year-old Hemet man.

Michael Giron Valladares was hit just before 12:30 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, approximately 1,268 feet west of Tyler Street, the agency reported. He died at the scene.

According to preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol, Giron Valladares was hit by a semi-truck in the #3 lane.

A SigAlert was issued at 12:39 p.m. and some freeway lanes were closed for several hours as part of a CHP investigation into the incident.

The freeway was reopened before 4 p.m.
