Teen Sought In Fatal Shooting Of 40-Year-Old Man At His RivCo Home

NORCO, CA — A teen was named as a suspect in the fatal weekend shooting of a 40-year-old Norco man at his home, and investigators are asking for the public's help in finding the young man.

Jaziel Valdez, 17, was being sought by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department following the shooting of Gabriel Diaz.

At about 7:04 p.m. Saturday, deputies were called to the 300 block of Sixth Street in Norco about an assault. Once at the scene, deputies found a man with traumatic injuries, later identified as Diaz, at the side of his home. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the department reported.

Several witnesses were interviewed by sheriff's investigators and Valdez, who uses an alias of Ivan Camacho, was identified as the suspect, according to the department.

As of Tuesday, the department was still seeking Valdez, according to Sgt. Deirdre Vickers. He may be driving a gray Chevrolet Silverado truck, California license plate number 6E80093, that was stolen from Diaz's home, the sheriff's department reported.

Information about the relationship, if any, between Valdez and Diaz, was not disclosed.
