Toddlers Found Unresponsive In RivCo Backyard Swimming Pool

EASTVALE, CA — A 2-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl were taken to hospitals Thursday after being discovered unresponsive in a backyard swimming pool in Eastvale.

Deputies responded to the 7300 block of Westerly Way, near Providence Ranch Park, shortly after noon to a report regarding two unresponsive children in a backyard swimming pool, Riverside County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Deirdre Vickers said.

Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department Battalion Chief Alex Paul confirmed that the toddlers were out of the pool at the arrival of paramedics.

The toddlers were given medical assistance between 20-30 minutes before being taken to two hospitals. Paul said paramedics took one toddler to Corona Regional Medical Center. The second toddler was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The conditions of both toddlers remain unknown, and investigators are conducting an ongoing investigation into the near-drownings.
