Trucks, Sedan Collide on 15 Freeway, Snarling Traffic

CORONA, CA — A utility truck, a compact sedan and a pickup collided on Interstate 15 south of Corona Thursday, leaving one person injured and causing a major traffic jam.

The wreck was reported about 12:30 p.m. on northbound I-15, just south of the Riverside (91) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A pest control truck, a Chevrolet Cruz and a Toyota Tundra were involved in the crash, though the circumstances were unclear.

Officers arrived to find the vehicles in the middle of the northbound side of I-15. Initially, three lanes were obstructed, but officers quickly re- opened one lane, leaving the slow lane and the lane adjacent to it blocked.

A SigAlert was issued at 12:40 p.m. because of the traffic tie-up.

Corona Fire Department paramedics assessed the drivers. One person suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, according to reports from the scene.

By 1:20 p.m., the vehicles were moved off of the freeway, and all lanes were back in service.

The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
