PERRIS, CA — A 56-year-old woman has died from a gunshot wound in the unincorporated Good Hope area of Riverside County, authorities said Sunday.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Perris station responded to a call of a wounded victim in the 21000 block of Highway 74 at about 10 p.m. Saturday. They found the victim at the scene and initiated lifesaving measures but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives and the Riverside County Coroner's Bureau took over the investigation.

The victim's name was withheld pending notification of her family.
